Psalm 32
Psalm 32 (New Living Translation)
A psalm[a] of David.
1 Oh, what joy for those
whose disobedience is forgiven,
whose sin is put out of sight!
2 Yes, what joy for those
whose record the Lord has cleared of guilt,[b]
whose lives are lived in complete honesty!
3 When I refused to confess my sin,
my body wasted away,
and I groaned all day long.
Lord, trying to do this on my own is crazy hard. I need you so desperately, in all areas. NO amount of my sheer “will” can make this plan succeed. You gave it to me. It’s a gift from you.
4 Day and night your hand of discipline was heavy on me.
My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat.
I’m done “making it happen” on my own. It hurts too much! I’ve bumped my knees too often on the “lessons of life.” I don’t want to stumble through this battle field any longer. I need your strength. I need your guidance.
Interlude
5 Finally, I confessed all my sins to you
and stopped trying to hide my guilt.
I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.”
And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone.
No more ignorant, renegade-like optimism. No more “if it is to be it is up to me.” No more shortcuts. No more envy. No more greed. I give all of that to you. I lay my flesh down at your throne and say… “take it Lord. I don’t want it any more.” Thank you, Father, for forgiving me.
Interlude
6 Therefore, let all the godly pray to you while there is still time,
that they may not drown in the floodwaters of judgment.
7 For you are my hiding place;
you protect me from trouble.
You surround me with songs of victory.
I will never feel victory in my own flesh… I need your victorious Spirit, Father. Transcend upon me. Encourage me. Motivate me. All for your glory, Lord.
Interlude
8 The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life.
I will advise you and watch over you.
Deal! You give me the blueprints and road map, I’ll give my life to this project. You are my boss. I’ll do what you say.
9 Do not be like a senseless horse or mule
that needs a bit and bridle to keep it under control.”
Aha! Is THAT why You’ve placed road blocks on my journey??? So that I’d not lose surrendered perspective? So that I would not lose control?!! Make sense. Thanks.
10 Many sorrows come to the wicked,
but unfailing love surrounds those who trust the Lord.
11 So rejoice in the Lord and be glad, all you who obey him!
Shout for joy, all you whose hearts are pure!
Purify me, Lord, with your refining fire. Make me new. Renew my mind, strength, and spirit. I’m yours. All for you and your glory, not my own. Thanks for loving me enough to help me. I’m so glad you love me unconditionally. So glad.
All Glory and Honor to you Lord. Amen.
