Environment: "Where" is a matter of life and death!
Studies have shown that an innovative, creative workspace is not only good for the out of the box idea, but it also prevents brain cells from DYING!
Additionally, environments that allow stress-free thinking are more conducive to creativity. (especially useful information for struggling small businesses that encourage multiple-role-staff, charged with being creative)
Don’t believe me? Then try this:
1. Ask anyone you know who has worked in a “corporate” cubicle for a long time how it feels.
2. Handcuff your ankle to that same cubicle, set a kitchen timer for 8 hours, solve 100 calculus problems, write a piece of sheet music in D-minor, drown out 15 “background” conversations from passer-bys, respond to 100 text messages from your wife informing you of every detail in her day, while solving your companies budget crisis and developing a business development strategy that requires no additional investment.
Whew!
3. Check out this interesting Blog, by Kathy Sierra, who is known for her interest in brain research and learning.
My vote? A rainforest jungle, offsite management team meeting. ☺
